Suburban Educators for Equity Co-Lab

Are you a suburban* educator looking to position yourself, your classroom, and your community as allies with students of color and create learning opportunities for all involved? Join other educators looking to dig deeper into how to bring about equity and inclusivity in a suburban setting.

Through the Co-Lab, you will reflect on your specific context and areas of interest and growth. Examples of topics you may focus on include:

  • How can I develop equitable practices within my classroom?

  • How can I support relationship building at school?

  • How can I best facilitate and actively participate in difficult, courageous conversations?

* While priority will be given to suburban educators, we welcome all educators to apply!

What does participation look like?

  • Applications accepted on a rolling basis (The first mtg is on 10/24 and we’ll keep the application open until all spots are filled).

  • Apply as an individual or with a team (each team member should complete a separate application). Free and open to all PK-12 educators in district, charter, or independent schools in MA.

  • Participants will receive $250 to support travel and participation.

  • A blend of in-person and virtual meetings during the 2019-20 school year. See the detailed schedule.

  • In-person meetings will take place on Thursday afternoons from 1:00-4:00pm at various locations in Boston in hopes of exposing participants to lesser known venues of learning and opportunity in the city. We also want to acknowledge that some suburban educators may have students in the METCO program who commute from and back to the city each day.

  • We can work with you to receive PDPs for your participation.
